ALICIA MARSANS

Alicia Marsans, born in Barcelona in 1971, began painting at a very young age with her father, the painter Luis Marsans. In 1986, her studies in fashion design led her to create a collection of paintings on silk. She also illustrated books, explored mural painting and worked in design before devoting herself entirely to canvas painting.

Alicia has received numerous awards such as the Premio Velázquez entitling 4 of her works to be part of the collection of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid. She was finalist for the Torres Garcia Artist Award in 2013, won the Canyelles Award and came in 2nd place in the Ynglada International Drawing Competition in 2018.

Alicia exhibits her paintings in Barcelona, Madrid and other cities in Spain and also in Naples and Paris.

Her artwork flows seamlessly between abstraction and realism in the way that she perceives her subject matter.  What fascinates the viewer is her way of working with texture, her use of color and light, her expression revealed through lines and shapes which symbolize an abstraction of reality.
